What we really care about is whether or not our website will be showing 24 hours a day (keep in mind that every server in the world has to reboot from time to time so your site will be down for a couple minutes). We also want to know if our hosting plan will be able to hold as many visitors as we want, and if customer service is both helpful and around when we need them the most. To me, customer service is a huge plus and a must.
Well not only does HostGator pass this test, but they go well above and beyond. They have a 45 day refund policy and the amount of stuff that comes with their hosting plan is enough to make your head spin. What I like the best is that they allow unlimited domains. So if you own a handful of sites, you can simply host them all on the same account. This saves you a ton of money in the long run.
Are you not gifted with web design? They even give you 4,500 templates to choose from. You basically write up some information, hit a few buttons, and your site is now live on the internet with the design of your choice. Try to find another webhost that gives you this much power, for so little cost. I remember I was paying over $150 a year (with another host) just for very basic stuff. So if you want to keep things simple and still have the whole nine-yards of great features, check them out.
If for some reason under the sun, you don’t like HostGator, I would urge you to visit LunarPages and see if their plans interest you more. Remember, when choosing a webhost, compare things such as the amount of disk space available to you (most people never use even 30% of it though), the amount of bandwidth (that is room for visitors allowed each month), domain limit, and price per month. Those factors should influence your decision in one way or another.
Keep in mind that the web hosting plan you end up with, will serve your website. Think of it as the foundation for your business and your own digital store. If you have a lousy host that is always having problems, your site is going to suffer. What hurts more than that, is that your visitors will NOT come back to your website if they have major issues with it. So who gets hurt the most? Your reputation gets the worst end of it. Stick with a good host and you are good to go. HostGator and Lunarpages are my top two choices.
